Some Goodies For My Beautiful Mom!!!

I started with a Turtle Shell

and one of my favorite photos of my mom and her sisters.

She is the one on the far left with the dark hair and great legs:), in the middle is her sister Karen and on the far right is her other sister Marilyn.

My doggies brought me this broken white turtle shell,

and I immediately thought :

"I am going to make something beautiful and fun

for my mom with this turtle shell".

My hubby thought I was crazy!!!

I also made her a bracelet from Vintage Jewelery.

I covered a tin with paper from a book and added a purple jewel

(That used to be an old earring of hers from the 80's).

I also wrote little notes about how much I love and appreciate her

to fill the tin with under the bracelet.

I LOVE this Vintage clasp!!!

I made her some Brown Sugar Scrub.

The spoon attached to hers was from her parents old silver.

My first time making Apple Butter, but it was very fun and EASY!!!

I have to admit I think I had more fun making the labels!!!

I canned some Hot Peppers that my hubby had brought home

from a friend of his at work (Thank you Pat).

Nothing is BETTER than FRESH veggies from the garden!!!

I also made her some Lavender Sauce.

On top of the can I added a flower and a bird

that Isabella and I made from an old book.

I also added a sachet of fresh Lavender,

my mom and I LOVE the smell!!!

I also made her some Herb Infused Vinegar.

Maybe some of these gifts inspire you to make

something special for that someone special in your life!!!

I have been so attracted to bright colors lately. And as always flowers, butterflies, texture, vintage and jewels.

Isabella and I had so much fun making lots of these flowers.

We used an old book, cut out differens size circles with scalloped edge scrunched them up then added pigment ink. We then tied the center together with a square mother of pearl button and bead.

~Cranberry Infused Vinegar~

I have been so inspired to create lately!!!

I made some Cranberry Infused Vinegar in repurposed bottles.

I LOVE this Vinegar!!!

The pulp of the Cranberries make the Vinegar slightly thick, and adds body to the salad dressing.

Since there are only four ingredients, this vinegar is quick to put together. Hands-on time is minimal, about 15 minutes. The recipe can be doubled or tripled without any additional time involved, and the vinegar keeps several months on the cupboard shelf. This vinegar makes a nice gift, too; pour it into a decorative bottle, and place it in a basket with apples, pears, and a pomegranate

along with the recipe for Holiday Fruit and Lettuce Salad.

Homemade Cranberry Infused Vinegar

1 12 oz. package cranberries, (3 cups)

3/4 cup distilled white vinegar or apple cider vinegar

3/4 cup sugar

3 cinnamon sticks

Bring cranberries, vinegar, sugar, and cinnamon sticks to a boil in a medium saucepan.

Reduce heat; simmer 5 minutes or until cranberries burst.

Pour into a fine strainer that has been set over a bowl; don’t stir or mash the cranberries, since too much pulp will result in vinegar that is too thick.

When the mixture has cooled, discard the solids and pour the vinegar into a bottle or jar with a tight fitting lid.

If the vinegar gets too thick to pour, thin down with a little white vinegar, or apple cider vinegar.

The vinegar will keep several months on the cupboard shelf.

Holiday Fruit and Lettuce Salad

Nut Topping:1/3 cup sugar1 cup sliced or slivered almonds, pecans, or walnuts

Dressing:1/2 cup salad oil1/4 cup sugar1/4 cup cranberry vinegar

1/2 teaspoon salt

Dash hot pepper sauce

Dash freshly ground black pepper

2 heads romaine lettuce

1 red apple, cored and cut into 1/2 chunks

1 green apple, cored and cut into 1/2
chunks1 pear, peeled and cored and cut into 1/2chunks
1 pomegranate, seeds separated,
or 1/2 cup dried cranberries

Pour the 1/3 cup sugar in a large flat-bottomed frying pan.

Turn the heat to high, and when the sugar around the edges begins to melt, stir with a heatproof scraper
until all the sugar is melted and golden.

Add the nuts, stir to coat, then pour out on a parchment lined baking sheet, spreading as much as possible.

When cool, coarsely chop.

Mix the dressing ingredients in food processor or blender, set aside.

Wash the romaine lettuce, cut or tear into bite-sized pieces, add them to a large salad bowl Mix the apples and pears, pour a few tablespoons of the dressing on them, and toss (to prevent them from turning brown). Add the pomegranate seeds and sugared nuts to the lettuce.Toss well with the remaining dressing and serve immediately.

Note: To easily extract the pomegranate seeds without squirting juice all over the kitchen and your clothing, make two cuts just through the skin around the pomegranate.

Place the pomegranate in a large container of cold water, and pull it apart under the water.

Take each of the quarters and pull out the seeds under the water, discarding the pith and skin.

Pour the seeds into a strainer; rinse.

ART WITH MY SWEET GIRLS!!!

Kristin, Isabella, and I had an art day. We had so much fun!!! I LOVE creating with my girls!!!

This painting Kristin and I did was on a piece of wood. Kristin covered the wood with tissue paper first, then she added vintage sheet music for the tree. We worked on this for two days.

Kristin is so creative, but on day two she was not feeling well :(. I had to help her a little more the second day........however she did pick out all the colors, paper and flowers. This was her vision.

I am not sure why the colors did not come out very well in this photo, but I did get a new digital camera for Christmas.......whooo hoooo!!!!

Isabella and I had so much fun doing her painting!!! She is sooo cute and funny when she is creating!!! She loves to ask questions about art....... I have no idea where she gets that from...lol ;).

I LOVE the colors Isabella picked out, she is just like her mommy......we LOVE Butterflies!!!

Isabella lost her two front teeth just in time for Christmas. She is still able to enjoy chocolate~that is my girl...lol!!!I hope all of you beautiful blogger friends had a WONDERFUL Christmas and New Year!!! My hubby made my Christmas the BEST one I have ever had!!! HAPPY DAY!!!

This is my first piece of art that I have created in my new home. It feels soooo good to create art in my new art studio. My son Alan even likes this piece of art........that is not usually the case with him, lol. She really touches my heart for many reasons! I used a stretch canvas, with texture paste, copper, gold and silver paint. The right corner cap I made from clay. Above her head I used diamonds wire and black beads. I hope you all enjoy. Having one of those days, when my hubby calls me to come outside, and sitting next to him is a package. "What is this I say"? He said "I don't know open it". When I open the package.....SO MANY BEAUTIFUL things were inside! My dear friend Bonnie at http://www.bonjade.blogspot.com/ sent me this AMAZING photo she took with the gorgeous silver frame.

Then I opened this SWEET box with a bracelet inside.

I also got a photo album with one of her MAGNIFICENCE note cards. The special note she wrote me inside was so touching!

This was the bracelet, it has love inscribed on the heart. I LOVE it!!!

This is an embroider vintage cloth she sent.....the colors are vibrant.

This is the paper it was wrapped in......... is it not BEAUTIFUL!!!!

One more look at the paper......I think it is a work of art in itself! It would be a great background for some art! I feel SO BLESSED to have a friend like Bonnie! She has touched my heart in so many ways, and I CHERISH our friendship! THANK YOU BONNIE....I LOVE YOU!!!

HELLO OLD FRIEND!!!

I am FINALLY back to my blog!!! It has been soooo long!!! We moved got our new home in Marietta, GA and sold our house in Lakeland, GA. Whew......it has been a little crazy! My hubby retired from the Air force, and he now works for Lockheed Martin. I am still unpacking, and enjoying being close to my family. Since my art supplies are all still in boxes......I thought I would share some photos I took of Lakeland, GA before I moved.

This is a leaf that Isabella found. We are always looking for heart rocks, but on this day she found a heart leaf. She was so proud of it.........it even survived the move to here.

This is a statue of a girl reading. She is at this beautiful park in Lakeland, behind her is a BEAUTIFUL rose bush!

This is the lake (Banks Lake) that was down the street from my house. It was so beautiful, and unique. It had Cypress trees growing all throughout the lake, and the moss hanging off the trees was my favorite!

This was one of Isabella's favorite horses. I am going to miss Lakeland and all the history and all the fun memories my family had there. I am SO EXCITED about my new home. It is BREATHTAKING!!! I feel SO BLESSED and THANKFUL!!!! I hope you enjoyed my memories of Lakeland. I want to thank each and everyone of you for all the kind words you left me. I MISS you all tons!!! I am going to have to catch up and visit all of you soon!!!

Hello BEAUTIFUL blogger girls, I am BACK!!!

Wow......it is so hard to believe how long it has been since I have done a post! I got the flu, and I NEVER thought it would go away, then my niece and her son came and stayed with us for a few days, then the kids had there last day of school and are home for the summer. I have been enjoying the BEAUTIFUL sun with the kiddies! My hubby is going to retire from the Airforce after 22 years and we are putting the house on the market and moving. Oh, and did I mention I got up at 4:30 this morning to go running with my hubby............ so I guess you can see I have been a busy girl, but I have MISSED my blogger girls. I am glad to be back!!!

What I Worked On Last Week

This is an Altered Book I worked on for my Wonderful Mom! I titled it "A Mothers Love". I Covered the book with Vintage fabric, and put a Vintage Broach with pink Crystals on the front.

This is my beautiful mom when she was a teenager. I sewed Vintage fabric, and ribbon on this page. I tinted the black and white photo, and gave my mom butterfly wings.

On this page I used several photos of my mom when she was young. I added a piece of mica, metal frame and cross. The photo on the right is her dad and her when she was a baby.

This is my mom with her sisters, and the photo on the left is my mom when she was Homecoming Queen in High School. On the right page is her, her sister and her mom. I added copper wire and a Vintage charm. On the right I also used molding paste to create a stone look on the page.

The photo on the left is my mom, and I hung the photo on a silver fork that was her parents. I twisted the ends of the fork.

On the left page is my Granny Doodle. On the right page are several photos of my mom in her early adult years. The bottom photo on the right I added a golden crown, and she was pregnant with me.

I painted these girls. I also added inspirational words and photos of my mom, sisters, and myself when we were young.

On his page I used Molding Paste again, labels from an old cigar box, one flower I made from Vintage sheet music and a Mother of Pearle button that was my Grandmothers.

This page was made from a Vintage Dollie, Vintage fabric, Vintage buttons, and a Vintage coin purse.

This page was made with Vintage Fabric, and a Vintage Broach that was my Grandmothers.

These two pages I painted and added photos of my Grandparents, mom, sisters and myself.

These two pages I also painted and wrote my mom a note, and used the "Cherish" girl that I made with Beeswax.

This is the last page I did with a baby photo of my mom. I gave her butterfly wings and added a Vintage Daisy broach........Daisy's are her favorite flowers. I LOVE my mom so much, and it felt so good to do something for such an AMAZING woman, and mother.

This is a Stained Glass heart I made for my Mother in Law. I added a Vintage crystal at the bottom.

Grandma Lutz Pillow for Mothers Day!

I finally finished making a pillow for my Grandma Lutz. She is such a SWEET woman, and I am so excited to send her this pillow.

I stitched on a vintage material with ribbon. Then I sewed roses on the front of the pillow. It is a big fluffy pillow. My Italian hubby calls her Grandma Lutz, because his Poppa called her that......it is an Italian thing, and I LOVE it! I can't wait to be a Grandma Lutz one day!

Look what sweet Isabella got for breakfast this weekend. She loves butterflies like her mommy.

Matthew is so WONDERFUL! He made us all breakfast, and made Isabella a special butterfly pancake. For a 15 year old boy............he is so thoughtful and loving! He will be a GREAT dad and hubby one day!!!

Look at this Magnolia that was growing in our Magnolia tree. Is is not BEAUTIFUL??? I have never seen a bloom this big and the smell is so DIVINE!!! I hope you enjoy! I met Michelle Renee on Etsy a few weeks ago, and she was so kind and helpful. Through our conversations to each other she had asked if she could post my Etsy store on her blog. I was SO HONORED!!! This is a photo of my Grandmother that I altered with new program my hubby bought for me. He surprised me and bought me Corel paint shop pro, Corel paint, and Corel photo. This is my first attempt, but I am SOOOO EXCITED to play in the digital world! I have the SWEETEST hubby in the world!!! I feel so blessed to be loved and surrounded by such amazing people!

I made this card this weekend. I used Beeswax on the image and it made it transparent (Happy Accident) then my hubby started putting printed paper behind the image........I love that my hubby loves to see me create, and is so involved in helping me. Then I added a vintage brass heart. I am so pleased with the way she turned out, but I am not sure what I am going to do with her now.?

I had to share this photo! Sunday afternoon my hubby was taking a nap on the sofa, and I looked over at him, and he had his hands together like he was praying. I had to grab the camera and take a photo. I think he looked soooo cute and sweet sleeping like that. I sure do LOVE my sweet guy!

So for the title on my Virgin Mary painting...........I think I am going to stick with Serenity. Thank you so much BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING blogger friends for helping me come up with a title. I feel so blessed to have you all in my life, and I appreciate your comments so much! I have no idea how I survived before the blog world!!!

"Serenity" By ~Vintage Nina~

I finally finished this painting. I have been working on her in my spare time for about a week now. She is my vision of the beautiful Virgin Mary. I am not sure about what to title the painting. My hubby likes "Serenity". I have toyed with titling her "Blessed", "Peace", "Harmonious", "Blessed with Serenity"(my son Matt's favorite title), "Tranquillity" and "Serene". Please HELP!!! If you feel something, or have an idea for a title.........please share with me. I am searching for just the right title. It is so funny that sometimes the hardest part is titling my paintings.......lol!
She is on a thick gallery canvas. I used a special crackle on the background and the edges of the canvas.
I love the subtle and aged effect of the crackle paint. I want to put her on Etsy this weekend if I can get the time, if not maybe Monday.
My wonderful hubby bought me two rose bushes last year. I so enjoyed all the roses last year. I noticed yesterday evening they were blooming. The pink rose bush smells so wonderful!

This is a Swarovski Crystal Butterfly my hubby bought me. It is so beautiful in the light. I LOVE it!

Easter Is Almost Here!!!

My hubby is so silly! We took the girls to an Easter egg hunt, and the Easter Bunny was there. Well.........my hubby will never turn down a laugh and having fun. It was such a nice day after several days of Tornado warnings, floods and high winds. I think we were all just so happy to see sunshine again!

Look at my hubby giving the girls a lesson on decorating eggs. He also used a wax crayon to make flames on one of his eggs.

The girls loved decorating the eggs. After we dyed the eggs the girls added glitter. Yes I am still cleaning up glitter. We had a fun weekend getting ready for Easter.

Vintage Giveaway!!!

I had so much fun this morning creating this vintage style cigar box filled with goodies! This is my very first giveaway, and I wanted to share my love of vintage photos, boxes and more! For the winner you will receive one of my hand~made cigar boxes filled with lots of goodies to spark your creativity.

This is the cover of the wooden cigar box I made. To open the box you will pull a huge vintage pearl. I put the definition of fruitful on the front from a vintage dictionary. The vintage photo is colored with watercolor pencils...by me, and her head is decorated with a vintage broach. Above her it says "Beauty". I also added an embossed metal corner cap, and some silk flowers with mini pearls in the center of them..........

This is the inside of the cigar box. I used paper that had all different vintage post cards on it. A face that I painted and used gel pens. The painted charm says "Create" and has wire with beads at the top.

Here are all the goodies I will be putting in the box. There are seven vintage photos, two vintage music sheets, one sheet of Kim Hodges words and sayings embossed stickers ( I love her stuff some of the stickers say...."love is all around, all is well in my world, I love you so, happiness, keep life sweet" and many more wonderful sayings) two clear crystal charms, one pink and one clear crystal heart charm, one large and one small circle mirror charm, two chipboard frames, seven chipboard sayings all different, a painted wooden butterfly, three clay faces I made, a round purple charm that says "play", a clock embellishment, two vintage keys, nine 3-D tag stickers with sayings on them, two brass ribbon holders, a metal daffodil charm with green crystals on the back of the charm, one meal stamped charm that says "friendship", a vintage metal screwdriver, one mother of pearl heart charm, ribbons, trim and a large hand painted enamel pink flower pin with pink stones in the middle.

I do hope that you like the box and all the goodies. Since this is my first time doing a giveaway, I have to admit I am having a little bit of a confidence issue! I guess I have to face my fear and insecurities sooner or later right!?!?!

This painting I did for my Isabella. She represents Spring, color, innocence, peace, nature, growing and Love. I hung glass flowers at the bottom of the canvas. I have a photo of Isabella at the beach with her head tilted and she looks like an angel ~ that photo is what inspired this painting for me. Isabella loves it........she wants me to title the painting "Isabella's Birthday Painting". She is only five and her birthday is April 10th........... so it is her way of telling me he wants it for her birthday. She is so cute I made it for her just because I love her!!!

This one I did for my Kristin. She represents coming into yourself, growing, passion, deep thought, rich colors and Sing Your Song. Kristin is 11 now and she is so mature for her age. She is so sweet, but sometimes very serious. She is so smart, and always a deep thinker. She loves rich colors. I titled her "Sing Your Song", because Kristin loves to sing with her dad, and when she sings it brings me to tears. Her voice is like the angels in heaven singing. I Love to hear her sing. I know no matter where she goes in life she will sing her song!!! Hope you enjoy the paintings I did for my girlies.

"Brown Bag Card" By: ~Vintage Nina~

This is a card I made for my hubby from a brown lunch bag. I absolutely LOVED making this card. I feel like such the recycle girl...lol. On the front I used paper, a vintage playing card, metal corner cap, and a vintage earring (I put "I Love You" in the center).

On the inside I used paper again, stamps, vintage dictionary paper, a face I painted and vintage angel wings. To keep the opening closed on the side I cut a flap on the paper I attached on the front and folded it over to the inside. Then I used velcro to attach the two sides.

This is a closer look at the face I painted. I also added a Delta wing pin......I got this pin when I was a little girl. My hubby is in the Air Force so I thought it was appropriate.

These are all the goodies I made and put inside the bag. I found a feather and put it between two microscope slides and soldered it.

I want to make a brown bag book next. I just love these brown bags and all the cool things you can make with them.

My hubby and I went to Savannah GA this weekend. It was AMAZING!!! The history and beauty here is beyond words. The views will leave you breathless!

This is a statue of the famous artist Raphael. He is one of my favorites!!!

This is an angel at the famous Bonaventure cemetery. Some date back to the early 1700's.

A little girl angel at Bonaventure......I LOVE her face! I am sure I will be making some art from this image.

The doors here are even a work of art. I LOVE all the texture. This would make a great background for art.

Another Bonaventure angel. Don't you just love the green moss growing on her.?

I wish I had a way to share all the Bonaventure angels I took photos of. They are so unique, old, and beautiful!!!

She is so BEAUTIFUL! I love the way she is holding her heart.

This ornament I made of me when I was a little girl, with my poppa. It says "Moments Shared". I also added a vintage button, and beads to hang it with. I loved my childhood with my poppa. He was a wonderful man.......I miss him. I hope to cover my Christmas tree one day with these ornaments of my family and kiddies. Until then I will just enjoy them all year round.

This is a crystal charm I made of my mom when she was a baby. It says "love". I used vintage beads and gold wire.

This is a crystal charm necklace I made with a image of my kiddies. I also used glass paint on the back of the crystal.

This is a necklace I made of my Grandmother (my "Granny Doodle"). I gave her butterfly wings. I soldered the image between glass. I added a rose quartz charm at the bottom.

This is a baby card I made. I just love the baby face stamp on the front. It has a metal charm on the front that says "adore". At the top of the card is sheer organza ribbon with a gold metal dove charm holding an olive branch.

This is a baby bracelet I made. It has mother of pearl beads with swaroski crystal beads at the end of the bracelet. It has a silver cross charm. I LOVE to see baby girls wearing bracelets. This one is one of my favorites.

Happy Birthday Alan!!! I can not believe seventeen years ago today I gave birth to my first child. You were such a good baby. No one could believe you were sleeping through the night when you were just a few weeks old. You have been my best friend. We have had so much fun together in the last seventeen years. This is a photo of my grandmother when she was age one, the year was 1917. On the top right I made the paper. I put vintage tin behind her head. I used real mother of pearl buttons that came from the collection of buttons she gave me. In the center of the circle frame it says "happiness". At the bottom it says "live well, laugh often, love much" ~ that would be advice my granny doodle would give me. On the bottom left is a pearl heart from her costume jewelery ~ I put gold wings behind it.

This is one of my journals. Her face I made with polymer clay. I sewed the background with denim and vintage fabric. Her wings I made from vintage tin. Under her face is ribbon with a vintage broach.

This angel is on canvas. I used liquid polymer clay on the background. Her face I made from polymer clay. The body is polymer clay that I stamped.

This angel is made the same as above on canvas. Her wings are made from sand dollars.

My brother-in-law came down for the weekend. We took Kristin out to her favorite restaurant for her birthday, and it was so much fun! It is so nice to have such a WONDERFUL family!
